A Letter from Lafe

EVERYONE deals with hurts, heartache, setbacks, disappointments, and even our own failures and shortcomings. Nobody gets off easy.

God’s love for us supersedes our own hurts or failings, bringing a life rediscovered with hope reborn in our hearts. There is nothing more beautiful than restoration when God does in our lives what only He can do.

The Good News of the Gospel is that “while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8 NIV) Even while our lives are messy and long before we can clean ourselves up or justify any part of our shortcomings, God looks at us as His beloved children. No depth of sin, no brokenness is too far or too much for His love!

Just as I am, without one plea
But that Thy blood was she for me
And that Though bid’st me come to Thee
O Lamb of God, I come! I come.

Just As I AM
by Mahalia Jackson

I LOVE that hymn!

The real strength of a redeemed and restored life is understanding that we aren’t meant to keep up an image of a “good Christian.” We are meant to live in authentic community, being real and open with the family of believers that God surrounds us with, and we are called to reach the lost, the hurting, the hopeless. We are ALL supposed to live to love God and love people!

Our response to God’s great love for us is to give our lives back to God. Who has God put in front of you that you can reach with His love?

For me, I have the opportunity to pour my life into two great ministries:

Grace Point Family Church exists to see God’s Kingdom advanced and to spread God’s love, grace, and mercy. We launched in 2020 with the vision of being a life giving, outreach-based church, and 7 weeks later we were given the chance to walk that out when the pandemic hit. As we stepped out in faith to serve our community, God continued to grow our church family and provide the resources we needed to reach people and meet their needs.

Be a Part of Our Family

Grace Place has a vision to establish a community center that serves and embraces all ages providing a safe place where kids can get tutoring, mentoring, sports clinics, and open gyms. Teens can find a safe place to connect and share interests. Seniors can find a place of belonging with fun activities and social engagement, and families can come together for various classes and activities. This will be a place where everyone is welcome, everyone can belong, and everyone can be a part of a safe environment where people’s spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical lives will thrive. Whatever reason they choose to come, we believe they will experience the love and the goodness of God in this place! Grace Place currently operates a choice food pantry that is open 3 days a week and offers a variety of opportunities for people in the community to connect.

But it doesn’t stop there! I serve a God of love EVERYWHERE I go! Who can you serve in your home? When you’re out running errands? In your community?

Praying you will find your WHO and your WHY in the “more than enough” nature of the God we serve,
